He was predeceased by: his parents, James Burke Sr. and Lucy "Eva" Catherine Burke; his wife Gladys Daku (Robertson); and his siblings, Joy Gall, Alice Williams, Ed Burke and Des Burke.

He is survived by: his siblings, Ralph Burke, Grant Burke (Murle), John Burke (Maxine), Fred Burke (Debbie), Joan Colborn (Ken), Isabel Robertson, Bunny Shelvey (Jack) and Colleen Silverthorn. He is also survived by brother/sister in-laws, nieces, nephews.
