She was predeceased by: her husband Kenneth Carter; her parents, Alex Bowie and Lillian Bowie; and her siblings, Mary Gibbs (Arthur), Barbara Fernandez (Vincent), Oscar Bowie and Doreen Fritchley (Doug).
She is survived by: her children, Beverly Carter and Nevin Fenske (Kara); her grandchildren, Aven, Morgan Fenske (Kaelyn Elliott) and Dane Fenske; her daughter Brenda Hodgens (John); her grandchild Kelly Hodgens (Morgan); her great grandchildren, Graysen, Peyton and Lennox; her grandchild Robin Hodgens (Theresa); her great grandchildren, Nathan and Terra; her daughter Colleen Spence (Ken); her grandsons, Kristopher Spence and Dylan Spence (Denise Kirkness); and her siblings-in-law, Brian Carter and Honour Carter. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
