He was predeceased by: his parents, Freda and Adam; his siblings, Pearl Koenig, Henry, Gordon, Cecil, Betty Wirl and Vera Weiss; and his brother-in-law John Weiss.
He is survived by: his wife Gail Henderson; his daughter Jennifer Koenig Armstrong (Pat) of Eastend; his grandson Colton; his daughter Virginia Koenig of Gull Lake; his grandson Michael; his son Justin (Nicole) of Coaldale; his grandchildren, Jason, Allyson and Adam; his siblings, Bernice Wheeler (Les) of Redcliff, Alberta, Glen Koenig (Patricia) of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Donnie Koenig of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and Harvey Koenig (Donna) of Calgary, Alberta; and his siblings-in-law, Tony Wirl of Langenburg, Saskatchewan and Moreen Koenig of Ravenscrag. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
