He was predeceased by: his parents, Diedrich Mierau and Justina Mierau; his sister Josie; his brother-in-law Corny Braun; his parents-in-law, Alban and Phillis Deschamps; his sister-in-law Yvonne Somerville; his nephew Jody Somerville; and his brother-in-law Earl Hanson.

He is survived by: his wife Paulette Mierau; his children, Mark Mierau (Adraine), Danielle Mierau (Adam), Denise Nykiforuk (Matt) and Val Resch; and his grandchildren, Hunter Mierau and Kamryn Nykiforuk. He is also survived by many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews and some great friends.
