Tana May Obituary
Tana Kelly May (Dunlop) died peacefully at Royal University Hospital on Jan. 8, with loving family members at her side.
Tana was born on June 13, 1963 in Melfort Hospital. She grew up on a farm in Birch Hills, before moving to Coronach, Sask., where she met her beloved husband Ralph. In Coronach, she began her long career with SaskPower. Ralph and Tana were married on July 16, 1983. They began their family in 1989, with the birth of Mureca, followed by Melina (Cole) in 1992 and Mikhea (Jay) in 1995.
Ralph and Tana later moved to Saskatoon, where Tana continued her career at the Queen Elizabeth Power Station as a power engineer and operator. She made long-term friendships during her working career.
She was predeceased by Ralph, her partner of 28 years in 2011. Together they were loving and supporting parents. Tana was also predeceased by her mother Muriel Dunlop, as well as one of her siblings, Jerry.
In addition to her three precious daughters, she is survived by her father James Kelly Dunlop, as well as Charlene Frank, Patty Jessup, and many friends. She enjoyed spending time with her father, with the two escaping Saskatchewan winters for the warmth of Arizona.
Tana was a member of the SaskPower Retiree Group, where she maintained long-time relationships with former co-workers. She was also in a Bible group at Cornerstone Church, where other people touched her life. Tana believed in helping those less fortunate than her and donated to a number of causes.
Her daughters remember their Mom as laid back, independent and a strong woman who was a pioneer in a male-dominated industry, and became a single mother when her daughters were teenagers.
Tana loved to play cards and do puzzles, enjoyed a variety of music and enjoyed outings with friends and family. She got joy when sitting in front of a campfire and spending time in nature. There were always dogs in her life, with Jazzy holding a special spot in her heart.
It was Tana's wish that donations be made to the United Way.
There will be a viewing on Jan. 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (210 Wess Road Saskatoon). A memorial will be held at a later date.
