He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothea and Lukas; his wife Roxie (Herfindahl); his grandson Jeffery Brian Howse; his grandson-in-law Craig Robberstad; his siblings, Frieda Marks (Reinhard), Eva Heimlick (Herbert), Hilda Huber (Harold) and Ludwig; and his sister-in-law Margaret Olson (Norman).

He is survived by: his children, Arlene Howse (Ed), Brian Rolke (Angela), Jason (Lynn), Nigel, Jozell (Steve), Vanessa (Tim), Brenna (Kyle), Shane, Rosanna (Terry), Lily, Maya and Andrew (Angela); and his sister-in-law Margaret Mairs. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
