He was predeceased by: his parents, William Paton and Cora Steenbrugen; his stepfather John Steenbrugen; his siblings, Morris Paton and Willene Ferguson; and his siblings-in-law, Donald, Marjorie Thompson, Dale, George and Garth Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Donalee; his sons, Clinton (Sonya) and Curtis (Catherine); his grandchildren, Kristie (Laurens), Taylor (Matt), Barrett (MacKenzie), Griffin, Gracee, Grayden, Tyson (Jacey), Connor, Kaden and Carly; and his siblings-in-law, Eldon Thompson, Marlene Thompson, Sharon Thompson and Faye Thompson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
