He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Thompson and Marjorie Thompson; his brothers, Denny Thompson and Darold Thompson; his siblings-in-law, Margaret Thompson and Melvin Knutson; his parents-in-law, Arthur and Esther DesLauriers; his brothers-in-law, Alfred Solemsaas, Perry Brown, Gerald DesLauriers, Ervin Lakefield and Leonard Smith; his godson Perry Brown; and his great-nephew Jamie McMechan.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Jean Thompson of Carnduff, SK; his grandson Tony; his son Terry Duncan Thompson (Lynn); his grandchildren, Krista Thompson and Wesley Thompson; his son Tim Dale Thompson; his grandchildren, Chris Thompson, Dominic, Bryson, Tanya Thompson Michon (Dan), Kayden, Jaxon, Doug Thompson (Rocio), Julian and Tyler; his son Tony Arthur Thompson (Emily); his grandchildren, Trevor Korthuis, Elizabeth, Curtis Thompson (Kate), Kyle, Claire, Melissa Thompson Jove (Fred), Eliana, Adilen, Rhoen and Scherise Thompson; his son Tom Walter Thompson (Jackie); his grandchildren, Hailey Thompson, Kingston, Bob Thompson, Laela, Idalia, Brandon, Adriana and Stefan Ignjetic; his siblings, Walter Jr. Thompson (Cindy) and Beverly Knutson; and his sisters-in-law, Grace Thompson, Rose Brown, Ione Smith, Sharon DesLauriers and Renee Lakefield-Fraser (Don). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
