We are sad to announce that on April 1, 2024, at the age of 93, Bernard Steenbruggen of Carnduff, Saskatchewan passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelia Steenbruggen and Bernard Steenbruggen; his wife Edith Steenbruggen; his siblings, John Steenbruggen (Cora), Pete Steenbruggen, Alida Vass, Corie Orser (Mel) and Joan McCumber (Bert); and his sister-in-law Royce Kimler (Otto).

He is survived by: his son Bernard "Bernie" Steenbruggen (Claudia); his grandson Bernard "Gerry" Steenbruggen of Pierson; his children, Ava, Tye, Cooper and Darrin Steenbruggen of Carievale; his grandchildren, Cody and Crysten; his daughter Jolene Steenbruggen of Estevan; and his grandchildren, Raivyn and Kash.

“Sorry to hear of the loss of Bert. He was the last of the living nephews of my grandmother Maria Antonia Steenbruggen, who married Wilhelmus Johannes Verhallen in 1911 in Oss, Netherlands. Bert's father, Bernardus Johannes Steenbruggen migrated to Canada in 1912. He was a brother of my grandma. Bernardus never contacted his Dutch family, but one of his sons, either John or Peter, was a soldier in the liberating Canadian army in the Netherlands in 1944, and visited his auntie Marie.”
