He was predeceased by: his wife Virgina "Ginger" Sutherland; his son Shaun; his parents, Rod Sutherland and Eva Sutherland; his parents-in-law, Martin Ackerman and Isabelle Ackerman; his brother-in-law David Ackerman; his sisters, Darlene Sutherland and Laverne Thomas; and his sister-in-law Joyce Sutherland.
He is survived by: his son Layce (Stephanie); his brother Barry Sutherland (Joyce); and his siblings-in-law, Jim Ackerman (Kim Maclean) and Mariann Wolbeck (Derald). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
