He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Kira; his parents, Jacob Broeder and Eva Broeder; his siblings, Joyce Rasmussen (Roger) and Keith Broeder (Mary); and his siblings-in-law, Bill Nelmes, George Young, Jack Young (Mary), Kitty Broeder, Lila Johnson (Earl) and Joyce Knox (Murray).

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Young; his children, Lynn Banford (Jim) and Michael Broeder (Teresa); his granddaughter Stephanie (Steve); his great grandchildren, Cooper and Corbin; his grandson Jacob (Heather); his great grandchild Vincent; his granddaughter Jasmine (Braidy); his siblings, Don Broeder, Marian Nelmes and Jean Silzer (Otto); and his sister-in-law Muriel Wittig. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
