He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolf Freitag and Maria Freitag; his siblings, Henry, Emma, Paul and Leo Freitag (Irene); and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Freitag, Irma Neuman (Robert), Minnie Pehl (Arthur), Lily Rode (Sam), Lillian Hammermeister, Henry Wilhelm, Robert Hammermeister, Fred Hammermeister, Harry Hammermeister and Harold Hammermeister.

He is survived by: his wife Dolly; his children, Paul (Fiona Mackay), Dennis (Clara-Marie), Fred (Laurie), Margaret Ricard (Mike), Tim (Sharlene) and Anna-Marie Perrot (Greg); his siblings, Hugo Freitag (Agnes), Hubert Freitag (Audrey), Edwin Freitag (Roberta), Lilly Biberdorf (Edgar), Willy Freitag (Darlene), Melvin Freitag (Bonnie) and Gary Freitag (Cheryl); and his sisters-in-law, Erna Wilhelm, Gisela Hammermeister, Marilyn Hammermeister and Erma Hammermeister. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
