He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Leslie and Mary Jane Thompson; his siblings, Hyacinth Bradley (Roy), Audrey Smood (Frank) and Wayne Thompson; and his daughter Lisa Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Susan; his sisters, Sandra Bood (Peter) and Melba Mayner; his sister-in-law Linda Thompson; his children, Darwin Thompson (Glenda), Laura Rawling (Duane), Connie Morrison (Dave) and Jennifer Connors (Troy); his stepchildren, Loretta Czarnota (Derek), Kevin Fehr (Margaret) and Tracy Buchinski (Mike); his grandchildren, Devin Thompson, Patrick Thompson, Jesse Rawling, Ashley Thompson (Satwinder Singh Bhatti), Jonathan Norman, Kimberly Norman and Andrew Norman; his stepgrandchildren, Trysten Fehr, Eleanor Fehr, Meadow Buchinski, Lily Buchinski, Isabel Czarnota and Lucas Czarnota; and his great grandchildren, Jace Thompson, Kyra Thompson and Isaiah Singh Bhatti.
