He was predeceased by: his son Gary; his parents, Henry and Gerda; and his siblings, Tony, Joke and Inez.

He is survived by: his spouse Dorothy (Lenders); his children, David, Sandra, Richard, Lee-Ann, Robert and Christine; his grandchildren, Matthew, Karen, Monica, Jamie and Rachel; his siblings, Sue, Mary, Bill, Irma, Annette, Harry, Anna Marie, Joe, Gerry, Louis, Joanne, Jackie and Mike; and his siblings-in-law, Frank, Iris, Jake, Joe, Wendy, Anne, Ric, Gerald, Brenda and Mary.
