He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Kitching and Olive Kitching; his brother Trevor; his sister-in-law Violet; his niece Cindy; and his brother-in-law Tom.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Robertson; his children, Jason (Solange Jacob), Charles (Cynthia Hooper), Kathleen (Scott Pawson) and David (Rosaleen Glavac); his grandchildren, Michael, Alexander, Elizabeth, Emily, Andrew and Bryan; and his siblings, Shirley (Tom Duncan) and William.
