He is survived by: his parent Jaapji Speelman; his significant other Denise St; his children, Judith (Jim), Catherine (Peter), Teresa (Dave), Walt (Kimberly) and Brian (Darlene); his grandchildren, Justin Opa, Patrick Opa, Heather Opa, Juliana Opa, Nicole Opa, Jennifer Opa, Keegan Opa, Mab Opa, Simon Opa, Amelie Opa, Charlotte Opa, Mitchell Opa, Ellen Opa, Laurlyn Opa, Braileen Opa, Briyanah Opa, Briley Opa, George Opa, Gage Opa, Lydia Opa, Clara Opa and Groot Opa; his great grandchildren, Garritt, Maverick, Ava and Landyn; and also Dominic Giroux (Barbara). He is also survived by his brothers Jan (Reinie) and John (Adriana) and numerous nieces and nephews.
