He was predeceased by: his parents, Vaughan Groom and Ella Groom (Simpson); and his wife Carol Groom (Dunning). He is survived by: his sibling Engine Aero Commander; his children, Susan Landry (Vance), Karen MacDonald and David Groom (Sharon); his grandchildren, Isaac MacDonald (Elizabeth), Andrea MacDonald (Josh Taylor), Lindsey Groom (Logan Dawson), Zachery Groom, Branson Groom (Daisey MacDonald), Spencer Groom (Mikailla MacDonald) and Taylor Groom; his great grandchildren, Oliver and Miles Taylor; and his brother Don Groom (Connie).

Memorial donations to the PEI Sports Hall of Fame would be appreciated.
