He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Whalen and Rita Whalen (Arsenault); his son-in-law Alexander Sams; and his sister-in-law Brenda Arsenault (Robert). He is survived by: his spouse Joyce; his children, Paul (Sheila), Robert (Joy) and Uxbridge; his stepchildren, Ross Arsenault (Linda), Marian Curran (Robert), Christine Arsenault (Christopher Deer) and Sharon Kerckaert (Ed); his grandchildren, Kylie Anne and Mitchell Whalen; his stepgrandchildren, Jordan, Vanessa Daly of St Albert, AB, Adam Arsenault, Edmonton and Paige Kerckaert; his siblings, Flona Sams of Brookside, NS, Janice Oickle (Miles), David Whalen (Jackie) and Kevin Whalen (Camy); and his siblings-in-law, Shirley Arsenault (Clair) and Gail Ross. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews.
