He was predeceased by: his wife Audrey Hughes; his parents, James Hughes and Mary Hughes (Ostridge); and his siblings, Gerald Hughes, Elmer Hughes (Della), Helen Kilbride (Gus), Hazel Feehan (Jim), Agnes Mitchell (Clarence), Charlotte Dalton (Chester) and Harry Hughes (Margaret).

He is survived by: his children, Clayton Hughes, Jamie Hughes (Sandra), Helena Baird (late Jackie), Sheila Ann Gallant (Stevie), Douglas Hughes (Maria) and Heather Palmer (Gary). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
