He was predeceased by: his sister Elaine MacNevin (Everett); and also Eric Haas. He is survived by: his children, Destiny Getson (George Merrick), Kensington Evans, Autumn Evans (Rodney) and Hunter River; his grandchildren, Kailyn Evans and Ava Evans; and his siblings, Blair Getson (Pauline) of O'Leary, Alton Getson (Norma) of O'Leary, Jimmie (Dianne Lombard), Coleman, Dana Trout River (Mary) and Sheila Bastow (Tony).
Memorial donations maybe made to Queen Elizabeth Hospital or Prince County Hospital Cancer Treatment Centre.
