He was predeceased by: his parents, H. W. Beecher and Hazel Ruth Dewar; his son Arnold Alexander Dewar; and his siblings, Abner Dewar, Dr. Vera Dewar, Keith and Harvey Dewar.
He is survived by: his wife Georgina Dewar; his son Blair Dewar; his brother Dr. Charles Dewar; his siblings-in-law, Eddie Dingwell, Dennis Dingwell (Cindy), Flora Dewar and Betty Gallant; and his close friend Bill Nelson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
