He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Mermuys and Maria Mermuys. He is survived by: his wife Lila Mermuys; his children, Andrew and Natasha Ball (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Lauren, Alison and Ethan; and his siblings, Eva Demeulenaere (George), Eliane Misener, Chris Mermuys (Mary), Laurent Mermuys (Erna), Bernard Mermuys, Mariette Boehner (Wayne), Jean Marie Mermuys and Cecile Nabuurs (Harry).
