He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Altass and Adeline Altass; his brother Brian; his sister-in-law Patricia; and his in-laws, Axel and Alice Madsen.
He is survived by: his significant other Janet; and his pet Herbie.
He was well known in the marine industry for his contribution to lifesaving at sea.
