He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth "Betty" McKinnon (Lowry) and Ray McKinnon; his brother Randy; his parents-in-law, Leo and Cecelia (Bedour); and his sister-in-law Jackie Meidinger.

He is survived by: his wife Janet McKinnon (Meidinger); his children, Danielle, Steve McInally, Kris "Parker" and Jenny McKinnon; his grandchildren, Keegan, Karsyn, Liam, Hope, Connor and Faith; his siblings, Shane (Betty McKinnon), Nancy-Rae (Bob Lovie), Kim (Judy McKinnon), Jeff (Sandy McKinnon), Wayne McKinnon, Derek McKinnon, Doug (Audrey Meidinger), Marilyn (Joe Kenda), Wendy (Mike Masse) and Ed (Debbie Meidinger); and his stepmother Joan McKinnon (family: Doug, Cheryl, Dan, Lori, Donna). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
