He was predeceased by: his daughter Jennifer Thiel. He is survived by: his wife Lois Thiel (Rintoul); his sons, David Thiel (Claire) of Toronto and Dan Thiel (Sombra Fernandez); his granddaughters, Luna, Isabel and Willa; and his siblings, Carole (Don Kyle) and Allan.
