He was predeceased by: his parents, William Alexander and Jane Chesney; his son Paul (Kathleen); his brother-in-law David Adams; his daughter-in-law Brenda Conn; and his grandson Robbie.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Chesney; his children, Rob (Maria), Mary Scott (Tom), William S. (Kathryn) and Peter (Amanda); his grandchildren, Alex, Nathan, Luke, Amy, Grant, Ella, Matthew, Leah, David, Ash, Kaitlyn, Glenn, Brittany, Richard, William, Lauren, Martin, Andrea, Gordon, Garett, Jillian and Shauna; his great grandchildren, Caroline, Scarlett, Veronica, Aria and Jonathan; his siblings, Reid Chesney (late Margaret) and Dorothy Lim (late C. C.); and his brothers-in-law, Robert Adams (Marilyn) and Philip Adams (Mary Ann).
