He was predeceased by: his former wife Maria Lourdes Tavares; his parents, Jose Tavares and Maria Tavares; and his brother Agostinho Tavares. He is survived by: his wife Maria Natividad Tavares; his daughters, Debbie DeAlmeida (George) of Massachusetts and Darlene Hepburn (Derek) of Vancouver; his grandchildren, Serina DeAlmeida, Catarina DeAlmeida and Alicia Hepburn; his godson Joe Tavares of Woodstock; his siblings-in-law, Elza Tavares of Woodstock, Eduarda Vasconcelos, Fernando Costa and Daniel Medeiros; and his grandchild Toronto Maple Leafs. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family.
