He is survived by: his wife Nelly Porter; his children, Corinne, Eric Hoekstra, Stephanie Porter, Steve Scott, David, Sumi Porter and Elizabeth Porter; his grandchildren, Ian, Teah Hoekstra, Abbey Hoekstra, Spencer Dawe, Tyler, Samantha Scott, Kylie Taverner and Blake Scott; his sister Rosemary Porter; and his siblings-in-law, John DeBruyn, Ena DeBruyn, Joe Widdis, Paul DeBruyn, Richard and Moira DeBruyn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended friends and family.
He served as the Akela for the 4th Woodstock Cub Pack through the Salvation Army Community Church for over 30 years, Fred has demonstrated without hesitation an outstanding contribution to the youth in his community.
