He was predeceased by: his parents, Urban McArter and Margaret McArter; his siblings, Dennis and Darlene; his brothers-in-law, Gerald McArter, Jim McArter and Roy Fischer; and also, John McArter, Elsie McArter, Larry and Samantha.

He is survived by: his spouse Dorothea Ducharme (McArter); his grandchildren, Michelle McNichol, Tilynn Ducharme, Jacob Collison, Wyatt Ducharme, Carlie Ducharme, Adam Armstrong, Paul Siciliano, Cole Paterson, Evan Ducharme, Tori Hinschberger, Danielle Ducharme and Chris Jutzi; his great grandchildren, Brody McNichol, Aryia McNichol, Lincoln Collison, Emma, Kaleigh, James Armstrong and Remy Siciliano; his siblings, Pat, Larry Keffer, Sharon, Gordon Berry, Barb, Jerry Laidlaw, Leslie, Frieda Ducharme, Darwin Ducharme and Bev Stevenson; and his siblings-in-law, Donna Fischer, Mel and Lois McArter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy donations to Huron Residential Hospice, Wingham and District Hospital Foundation Oncology Department and Knox Presbyterian Church in Cranbrook.
