He was predeceased by: his parents, James Harkness and Florence Harkness (Reid); his brother Doug Harkness; his brothers-in-law, Gary Mair and Emerson Hickey; and his nephews, Steve Fischer, Shane and Darryl Hickey.

He is survived by: his wife Lyla Harkness (Hickey); his children, Rob Harkness, Craig Harkness, Jared Harkness, Traci Ducharme and Leigh Ann Harkness; his grandchildren, Jadin, Conner, Anne-Marie and Emily; and his siblings, Jean Mair, Gary (Marlene Harkness), Rick (Laura Harkness), Connie Hickey, Lynn (Elva Hickey), Rod (Linda Hickey), Pam (Calvin Fischer) and Kevin (Marg Hickey). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flower, memorial donations to the Wingham Legion, Br. 180 would be appreciated.
