He was predeceased by: his parent Josephine "Pean" Assiniwe; his grandparents, Jacob Assiniwe and Evelyn Assiniwe; and his aunts and uncles, John McGraw, Thomas, Maxie and Victoria.
He is survived by: his child Richard Allen James Lewis; his siblings, Donna of Wikwemikong, Sylvia of Toronto, Clifford (Camilia) of Wikwemikong, Carol (Ken) of Toronto, Donald (Connie), Judy (Adolphus), Linda (Noel) and Sharon (Wayne); his aunts and uncles, Raymond, Julius (late Mary), Isabell, Norman (Frances) and Jeanette (Darcy); and his child Thomas Assiniwe.
