Muriel Sadie Mullen Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; Muriel (Chick) Mullen (nee McNally). Chick passed away peacefully on November 8th at the age of 103. She was born January 1, 1921, at her grandparents' farm in Utica and lived most of her life in Oshawa.
Chick was predeceased by her cherished husband Elmer (Moon), with whom she shared 63 years of love. She was a loving mother to Karen and her husband Wayne, and a devoted Nanny (Old Lady) to Tracy and Mark, Chris and Jess, and Shannon and Andrew. Her life, she said was enriched by her great-grandchildren, Everett, Cali, Laurel, Milo, and Marlowe; whom she adored with all her heart.
Chick was one of eight children. She shared a special bond with her sister Lois and her husband Jim. Her siblings Bud, Jimmy, Marie, Elsie, Frank, and Joan have been waiting for her to join them again.
Muriel was fortunate to have wonderful neighbors, John and Joanie, whose friendship brought her much joy. In her final years of life, Chick was lovingly cared for by a dedicated team of caregivers and servers who provided her with comfort, compassion, and cookies. Their care and kindness allowed Chick to live out her life with dignity, especially Victoria, Joy, Lucretia, Malou, Crystal, Lesley, Shari, Mercy, Rosa, Natalie, Karen, Elizabeth, Dana and Monica. Her family will always be grateful for the loving care that they provided.
Chick will always be remembered for her smile, infectious laugh, boundless energy for cleaning, and her tradition of giving 3 kisses to those she loved. Chick brightened every room she entered, loved unconditionally, and left a legacy of kindness that will be felt for generations to come.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
