Charles Vernell Shreve Obituary
Born in Buxton, Ontario, Vern was the son of the late Ervin (Erv) & Erma Shreve, adoptive son of Chales & Mary Zebbs.
Attended SS#13 Raleigh Township, North Buxton. He completed & graduated from Merlin District High School – Merlin, Ontario.
From ages 6-12, Vern had weekly piano lessons from the Royal Conservatory of Music. From age 8-12, he had weekly saxophone lessons – he played both alto & tenor. Ages 10-16. Vern was with the Chatham Police Boys Band, travelling Ontario and nearby parts of the United States. Later he would play with Pete Traynor for several years.
His early career started at All Canada Radio & Television in Toronto, followed by working with financial collection agencies, until he received his Real Estate License in 1975.
Later, he and Deanna would move and become long time residents of Oshawa, Ontario.
Vern had a never-ending love of music & baseball. He always did what was right or corrected what wasn't right.
Vern was a committed partner & friend.
He was an amazing father & confidant.
Vern was a 33 Degree Mason Shriner.
He had the most infectious laugh.
He was an excellent cook.
Vern never missed a birthday or occasion.
Vernell is predeceased by siblings, Orion, Gregory, Yvonne and grandson Kyle.
He is missed by his many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home 5295 Thickson Road North, Whitby for visitation on Saturday January 4th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
