Alan Todd Marchand Obituary
It's with sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Marchand on Oct 4, 2024 after a long battle with esophageal cancer. Alan served as a captain with Whitby Fire and Emergency Services, beginning his esteemed career as a volunteer on October 20, 1988. He transitioned to a full-time firefighter role on October 10, 1989. Alan was known as a strong individual, always willing to go above and beyond for his fellow firefighters. He was also an active member of Local 2036 and frequently participated in the annual boot toll. After dedicating nearly 29 years of service, he retired, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of commitment and professionalism in the field of firefighting. Alan was dedicated to his job with the Whitby Fire Department. He was the recipient of the Governor General Award Fire Services, Exemplary Services Medal in March 2010.
He is survived by his sister Lisa and her family of Kelowna BC. Alan will be missed by his Aunt Sue, Uncle Wade from Alberta, Aunt Kathy from NB, Aunt Viv from Toronto, Aunt Anne from Calgary and many cousins.
Alan is predeceased by his father Robert "Bob" Marchand, mother Judy Lefurgey, Uncle David Lefurgey and cousins Bradly and Nicholas.
