He was predeceased by: his brother Remi Braekevelt; his son-in-law Steve Podolinsky; his grandson-in-law Archie McIlmoyle; and his parents, Remi Sr. and Martha Braekevelt.

He is survived by: his spouse Sally Ziegler; his children, Mary, Jo Bryce (Ivan) and Shane Plunkett (Sharon); his grandchildren, Melinda Podolinsky (Greg Anderson), Brian Podolinsky (Dianne) and William Plunkett; his siblings, Yvonne Glass (late Richard), Albert Braekevelt (Mary Lou) and Charlie Braekevelt (Janice); and his sister-in-law Doris Braekevelt. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
