He was predeceased by: his parents, Graham Bignell and Dolly Bignell; his brothers, Robert Bignell and Terry Bignell; and his mother-in-law Jane Herner.

He is survived by: his wife Julie Bignell; his siblings, Carole Gould (Morris), Pam Bebenek (Richard), Judy Wettlaufer (Bob) and Craig Bignell (Suzanne); his sisters-in-law, Kathy Bignell and Jean Bignell; his father-in-law Don Herner; and his brothers-in-law, Brad Herner and Craig Herner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and close friends.
