He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernst-Gerhardt Schugardt and Hansine Elfriede Marie Schugardt (Beusse). He is survived by: his wife Ingrid; his son Jeff Schugardt (Agnes); his granddaughter Sophie; his daughter Christine Karnowski (Kristopher); his granddaughters, Mischa and Kassia; his stepmother Edeltraut Schugardt; his sister Sabine Stout (Ron); his nephews, Josh and Jordan; and his niece Sarah. He is also survived by 4 great-nieces and great-nephews.
