He was predeceased by: his parents, Balazs Konya and Sara Konya (Erdos); and his siblings, Andras and Balazs. He is survived by: his wife Iren Konya (Kucza); his sons, John and Balazs (Yolanda); his brother Miklos; his brothers-in-law, Joska and Imre; his grandchildren, Cody (Stephanie), Chelsey (Hehman), Reagan, Dallas (Brodie), Trey, Kianna and Anna; and his great grandchildren, Blair and Abel.

Donations can be made in his honour to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
