He was predeceased by: his former wife Gladys (Reynolds); his wife Gale (Schwartzentruber); his parents, Margaret Stewart and William Stewart; and his brothers, Don, Chalmers, William and Philip.

He is survived by: his daughter Kay Dugmore (Ken); his granddaughters, Kim Ferrier (Shawn) and Karen Burdess; his great grandchildren, Chloe, Benjamin, Emily Ferrier, Abby and Raewyn Burdess; his stepdaughter Holly Neilson (Kim); his grandson Zachary Samenook; and his nephew Bill Stewart (Nancy).
