He was predeceased by: his wife MaryJoan Stearn; his parents, Clement Hodgson Stearn and Doris Lilian Phillips; his sister Hilary Ayre Jones; and his stepmother Rosalynde Fuller Stearn.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Joosse (Lawrence), Virginia Pope (Charles K.) and Andrew Stearn (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Matthew Joosse (Veronica), Sarah Schoeffel (Derrick), Lauren McConnell (Scott), Jessica King (Johnny), Carleigh Pope, Tomas McManus, Rosalynde Stearn, Steve Reynolds and Lydia Stearn; and his great grandchildren, Colin, Rita Joosse, Sophie, Katie McConnell and Emma King.
