He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas and Olive. He is survived by: his spouse Gail Dear (Powers); his children, Sharon Steeves of Hamilton, Heather Dear of Hamilton, Ryan Dear of Hamilton and Sarah Dear (Eric O'Neil) of Hamilton; and his siblings, Lois Hiebert (Norman) of Burlington, Melvin Dear of Dundas and Marjorie Berry (Douglas) of Montreal.

Paul supported the outreach of 541 Eatery and Exchange in Hamilton, and those interested are invited to make a donation as an expression of sympathy.
