He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ernest Bates and Violet Ruth Bates. He is survived by: his wife Sally; his daughters, Rachel Formaro (Tom), Elizabeth Henderson (David) and Charlotte Oickle (Greg); his grandchildren, Thomas Henderson, Sarah Henderson and Gabriella Formaro; and his siblings, Janet Moreland (Roger) and Stephen (Dorothy). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
