He was predeceased by: his parent Edward Kicknosway; his spouse Nellievena (Day); his child Elisabeth Blackbird "Putt"; and his sibling Joe. He is survived by: his parent Ethel Kicknosway (Jacobs); his children, Vincent (Elaine), Everett (Gloria), James Jr. (Clara), Tony "Marone", Gardner Sands and Scott Sands; and his siblings, George, Ada Plain, Frank and Beulah Peters. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
