It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Wassenaar (Wainfleet, Ontario), born in Dunnville, Ontario, who passed away on August 17, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wassenaar and Jane Wassenaar; his brother Fred Reinink (Marg); his parents-in-law, Frank and Cobie Reinink; and his stepsibling Sid Brouwer (Carol-Ann).
He is survived by: his son John Wassenaar; his wife Henriette (Reinink); his children, Isaiah, Nolan, Callum, Cobie, Garrett, Shannon and Katy; his grandchild Reid; his son Nathan Theune; his grandchildren, Faith, Genevieve and Thalia; his siblings, Wenda Veldman (Jim), Marion Rahm (Richard), Frances Bosma (Sid), Charlene VandenEnde (Tim), Willy-Jane VanDyken (Dave), Kor Reinink (Hilda), Will Reinink (Rita), Liz Stryker (Evert) and Bert Reinink (Carol); his stepfather Peter Brouwer; and his stepsiblings, Ben Brouwer (Jean), Flory Fluit (Charlie), Stan Brouwer (Susan) and Gerald Brouwer (Bev). He is also survived by his uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, August 22 from 2:00 - 4:00 p. m. and from 6:00 – 8:00 p. m. at the Wainfleet Be In Christ Church, 53007 Perry Road, Wainfleet, Ontario, masks and social distancing required. Due to current CoVid restrictions, a private funeral service will be held with Pastor Ralph ten Brinke and Pastor Jamie Shepherd officiating.
