He is survived by: his wife Ursula Hummel (Wiens); his children, Detlev (Patricia Hummel), Rainer Hummel, Astrid (Joseph DiTecco) and Tatjana (Charles McShane); his grandchildren, Miranda (Steve Walorny), Wesley (Elizabeth Hummel), Serena (Brad Cole), Autumn (Jeff Okum), Bryan (Kay Hummel), Raiana Hummel (Alexander Appleyard), Axel Hummel, Lexa Hummel, Josiah DiTecco, Bethany (Eric Williams), Anysa (Josh Neal) and Chelsea (John Liotta); his siblings, Robert Hummel and Luise Hummel (Germany); and his in-laws, Johannes Wiens, Gertrude, Gunnar Doerwald, Kurt and Kathe Wiens. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
