He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Trudy (Brouwer); his former wife Joan (Sinke); and his daughters, Wendy (Henry) of Jong, Yolanda Williamson, Betty Vellekoop (Arie), Judith Vellenga (Peter) and Jacqueline De Jong. He was also cherished by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
