He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan McGilveary and Catherine "Electa" May McGilveary (Hill); and his siblings, Dean, Lyle, Nelson, Jean, Mazie and Alex.

He is survived by: his wife Lorraine (Hyslop); his sons, Kenneth (Amanda) of Hanover, Thomas (Sherry) of Hanover and Joseph of Arthur; his grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Samson) of Listowel and Megan (Malcolm) of Hanover; his stepgranddaughter Alicia Winter (Bill McBride) of Clifford; his siblings, Herb (Elizabeth) of Chesley, Murray of Grand Island, NY, Lawrence (Arlene) of Tonawanda, NY, Blanche Beckett of Chesley, Reta Steward of Chesley and Sharon Becker (Arthur) of Varney; and his sister-in-law Marion McAllister (Don) of Paisley. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Durham Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
