He was predeceased by: his parents, Philias Matte and Élizabeth Ravary; and his brothers, Robert (late Françoise), Lucien (late Fernande), Gérald (Aline) and Louis.

He is survived by: his spouse Violette Montion Matte; his children, Sylvie (Barry), Carole (Pierre) and Louis; his grandchildren, Maxime, Alexandre and Zachary; his great grandchildren, Maika, Chloé, Sophia and Layla; and his sibling Jaqueline (Stanley).
