He was predeceased by: his former wife Maria Mitchell. He is survived by: his sisters, Esther Lewis, Maggie Lascelles and Caroline Cuthbert; his wife Sally Mitchell; his son Vincent Mitchell; and also Christine Mitchell. He is also survived by five step-daughters and their families including nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
