He was predeceased by: his parents, Laura Gaebel (Plane) and Arnold Gaebel; and his siblings, Dorothy Thompson, Douglas, Grant and Marian Swinton.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy (Delore); his children, Louise Kennelly (Peter) and Joe (Cathy); his grandchildren, Kim, Dana, Ian, Mandy Hamilton (Jason), Terry and Christine; his great grandchild Alexis; his siblings, Carl (Ila), Anne Curtis and Sheila Beart (Frank); and his brother-in-law Dennis Thompson (late Dorothy).
